About O.M.C.A.
O.M.C.A. is an Oxford-based, non-profit, social and welfare organisation that has
been established to bring together Muslims of all nationalities and backgrounds to organise activities and services for
Muslims and non-Muslims in Oxford, especially the youth, women, families and new
Muslims.
Aims of O.M.C.A.
Our primary aim is to worship Allah by helping others,
Specifically we aim to:
Provide educational and sporting activities for our youth and increase opportunities for them to achieve their maximum
potential both in education and employment.
Help our young people become responsible, independent and law-abiding citizens and stay away from a life of crime,
drugs and dependency.
Provide educational and Islamic services for the whole community with special provision for new Muslims.
Organize social events and activities which provide a comfortable & socially inclusive environment for
Muslim women and families.
Organize activities and provide facilities for young children and their mothers.
Improve the health of the Muslim community, especially women and the elderly, through health
awareness campaigns.
Improve the social welfare of the community in general in terms of deprivation, housing and unemployment.
Improve links and relations with non-Muslim individuals and organisations and address their misconceptions
and concerns about Islam.
Promote the true teachings of Islam and the interests of Muslims through the media and internet.
Help Muslims to become full and active members of our society while maintaining their identity and religion.
Working with other similar organisations
We will work with other similar organisations and the three mosques in Oxford to co-ordinate
activities and projects for the benefit of the community as a whole, Insh'Allah.
We have divided our work amongst five subcommittees with some of their activities outlined below:
Youth, Schools and Sport
Supplementary classes in Maths, English, and Science.
Sports and Camping for boys and girls.
Visiting schools, Careers advice and Mentoring
Family and Social Events
Monthly social event with separate activities for children.
Muslim Nursery.
Muslim Scouts.
Islamic Education
Classes in Islamic Studies including Arabic.
Providing a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for new
Muslims to learn about Islam.
Health and Social Welfare
Health awareness campaigns.
Visiting the elderly at home or in hospital.
Helping the unemployed, homeless, refugees etc.
Public Affairs and Media
Establish links with local newspapers, radio stations
and television and produce and maintain OMCA’s website.
Establish links with local Councillors, MPs, schools,
hospitals and other public bodies and institutions.
